  No doubt Cherry Construction has a good reputation, but this carries over from the time when the company founder was active and has little to do with the present. We shopped Cherry new construction and saw a number of their houses. One of them had a gas leak. We settled on a different Cherry house, under construction, and this was our experience. A gas leak was also present in our house, which Cherry was unable to repair so Greenville Utilities did it. Our house main water line (past the meter) ruptured due to failure to glue a connector. Within hours, the repair Cherry made ruptured. No wall was actually vertical and no corner at 90 degrees. We asked for plain ceilings and got popcorn instead, and an attempt to bill us for it. The kitchen cabinetry (not of our choosing) was of bad quality. The driveway cement was of such low quality that a half inch "dusted" away in a few months. The house was sited incorrectly so it caused routine flooding (up to 8 inches of standing water) on the lawn, walks, driveway, and garage, not just for us but also for our neighbors (there had never been flooding there for decades before Cherry came to build). Cherry would not address this matter that required changes to the landscaping & installation of sumps and drains. The inspectors delayed issuance of the certificate of occupancy for months while dozens of other issues were addressed. It took many months to fix all these things.
